FAQ
Asphalt Paving & Tarmac questions
What is the difference between asphalt and tarmac?
In everyday use the words mean the same thing: a surface of stone aggregate bound with bitumen. Modern "tarmac" is asphalt. What matters is the mix, the thickness and how well it is laid and compacted.
How soon can I drive on new asphalt?
New asphalt can usually carry light traffic within hours once it has cooled, but avoid sharp turning on the spot and heavy point loads for the first few days in hot weather. We'll advise you for your specific job.
What is a slurry seal?
A slurry seal is a thin mixture of fine aggregate, bitumen emulsion and water spread over an existing asphalt surface. It seals fine cracks, restores grip and extends the life of the surface at much lower cost than resurfacing.
